Hi, I'm, Bill Dickson (b.1960), guitar player and composer. I was born in New York City and was also raised in London and Tehran. I picked up a guitar for the first time in 1971 while living in England, and I've been teaching guitar since 1980.
I hold a Master of Music degree in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
In addition to releasing 3 CDs of original music I've also written music for
two full-length independent films, an Off-Broadway play, and I have
won
composition contests and commissions, most notably my piano piece
"Memories of the Dreamtime".
My work experience outside of teaching guitar includes running the recording studio at The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, being Head Librarian at Sony Music Studios in New York, and later holding the same position at Sterling Sound, a top-notch mastering facility, also in New York.
I currently live in beautiful La Honda, California, with my wife, two dogs, cat, and, most recently, two parakeets...and of course, a lot of guitars.
My ambitions in life are to have tea with the Queen and co-host "Name That Tune" with Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones.
Please feel free to send me your comments, outrages, and of course compliments at: b...@billdickson.net.
I'll get back to you.
Keep pickin',
OK
Bill Dickson
